Assistance with daily personal activities, such as aid with or supervision of daily personal responsibilities, is referred to as personal care support. For instance:

  • Showering, bathing, brushing one’s teeth, clothing, and grooming are all examples of personal hygiene.
  • Menstrual care, bladder and bowel control, and toileting.
    drinking and eating.
  • Attending meetings.
  • Use of assistive technology, including hearing and communication aids.
  • Moving around and transferring, such as getting in and out of bed and using the restroom.
  • Applying splints to injuries caused by a participant’s impairment, and providing basic first aid.
